Privacy Policy

Bacon ("the app") is a money tracker for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is private by design: your financial data stays on your own devices and in your personal iCloud account, and the developer does not collect, receive, or have access to any of it. This policy explains what that means in plain language.

No bank connections

Bacon will never link to a bank, a card issuer, or an aggregation service such as Plaid. It never asks for banking credentials, and it never sees your statements. Every transaction in Bacon is one you typed in yourself. This is a permanent product decision rather than a feature that has not been built yet — recording a purchase is the moment you actually notice it, and it also means there is no financial account of yours for Bacon to put at risk.

What Bacon stores

Bacon stores the ledger you create — your accounts, transactions, amounts, dates, notes, categories, tags, merchants, budgets, and recurring schedules — on your device using Apple's on-device storage. Your viewing preferences, such as the currency and reporting period you chose, are stored on the device as well.

The developer never receives any of it. Bacon has no server of its own, no sign-up, and no way to reach your data. It does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, or any other personal information.

Analytics, tracking, and ads

There are none. Bacon contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no tracking of any kind, so there is no usage data being sent anywhere — not even anonymous counts. Bacon does not track you across other apps or websites, and nothing about you is sold or shared.

iCloud sync

Bacon keeps your ledger up to date across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac using iCloud. It works entirely through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database):

• Your synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account, tied to your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and receives no copy.
• Apple stores and processes it on your behalf under Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud terms.
• Bacon shows what iCloud is doing in Settings, under iCloud. It has no switch of its own: it follows your device's iCloud setting, so you turn it off the way you turn it off for any other app — in the Settings app on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings on the Mac, under your Apple Account.
• With iCloud unavailable or turned off for Bacon, the app keeps working and keeps your ledger on that device only.

Backups, exports, and sharing

Bacon can hand you your own data, always at your initiative:

• Backup and restore — you can save a backup file wherever you like, such as the Files app or a folder on your Mac, and restore from it later.
• CSV export — you can write your transactions out as a spreadsheet for another app.

Those files are created on your device and go where you send them. Bacon never uploads them, and the developer never receives them. Backup, restore, and export are free features and always will be: you must be able to leave with everything you put in.

Shortcuts and Siri

Bacon offers Shortcuts actions for recording an expense or income. They run on your device through Apple's App Intents framework, using the accounts, categories, and tags already in your ledger. Nothing is sent to the developer.

Purchases

Bacon Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Payment is made to Apple, and the developer never sees your payment details, billing address, or Apple Account. The app asks Apple whether this Apple Account owns the purchase; that answer is the only thing it stores about it, and it is stored on your device.

Children's privacy

Bacon is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it knowingly collects none from children either.

Your data, your control

Because your ledger lives on your own devices and in your private iCloud account, you stay fully in control of it. You can edit or delete any transaction, account, category, tag, or budget at any time, or remove everything at once — and with iCloud on, that deletion applies across your devices. Deleting the app removes its data from that device, but it does not remove data already synced to your other devices or held in iCloud; to clear it everywhere, delete your data inside Bacon first, or remove Bacon's data from your iCloud settings. The developer keeps no copy, so there is nothing on the developer's side to request, export, or delete.

This website

This site is static: no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking scripts. It is hosted on Netlify, which — like any web host — records standard server request logs, and which processes the support form described below. See Netlify's privacy policy for what that involves.

If you write to us through the support form, we receive what you type: your name, your email address, and your message. That is used to answer you and for nothing else. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never connected to anything inside the app — there is nothing in the app to connect it to.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be posted on this page. Any material change will appear here before it takes effect.
